Can I give Scratch Buddy and Fleato together?

Can I give my pet more than one Fifth & Fido supplement at once?

Can I mix a powder into wet food, dry food or water?

Wet food works best because the powder sticks to it. Dry food works if you add a splash of water or low-sodium broth so it clings instead of settling at the bottom of the bowl. Water is generally the wrong way to dose a food-topper powder, because you cannot tell how much your pet actually drank.

How long before I can tell if it's working?

Can I give my cat a supplement made for dogs?

No — not unless the label explicitly says it is formulated for cats as well. Dog products are dosed to dog body weights and may include ingredients chosen for dogs rather than cats, who have different nutrient requirements and a much smaller margin for error.

Do cats need different supplements than dogs?

Yes — cats are obligate carnivores with different nutrient requirements and much lower body weights, so both the formulation and the dose have to differ.

How do I get a cat to take a powder?

Start well below the full dose, mix it thoroughly into wet food, and build up over several days so the smell and texture change gradually rather than all at once. Cats notice sudden changes far more than dogs do. Check each tub's label for its own cat dose.

Powder or capsules for cats?

Powder, for most cats — a capsule has to be pilled or hidden, while a powder stirs into wet food and disappears. Capsules do give an exact pre-measured dose, which is their real advantage. If your cat reliably takes a capsule, either format works; most cats do not.
